A former
Airwalk filmmaker returns to the team that made him famous.

2 years ago he announced his retirement from moviemaking scene, leaving behind him many unfinished projects. He said that he felt it was time for a break, an unlimited break. Most of the audience responded to his act as being a heartless decision, since he was recognized as one of the greatest Romanian moviemakers and one of the most loved also. Even though the purpose of the audience’s reaction was to make him think it about his decision in depth, and hopefully reverse it, nothing happened. It was like nothing could have made him change his thoughts.
Now, after 2 years of complete absence, the man behind movies like EQUALIZE unseen skills 2 and EQUALIZE unseen skills 3 trailer returns to his first love
Airwalk Media.
The oldschool legend of Romania,
Cristian ‘fixN‘ Ghita, is once again ready for action.
We all hope that his return would be a great asset to Romanian moviemaking and because of these there are expected positive reactions from the audience with this official announce being released.
Below you can read an exclusive interview with him, where you can find out why he came back, thoughts about ESWC moviemaking contest and other unknown things.
As far as I know there aren’t too many filmmakers that came back after their retirement. And by many I’m thinking of less than the number of fingers on one hand. So, as history tells us, the probability of an oldschool filmmaker coming back is close to zero. This means that there is a special side of yours that most of the other retired people don’t have. What is so different about you, compared with the rest of the guys ?
First of all, Hi!
Secondly, I don’t think that I’m too different from the rest of the ‘old’ guys, it’s just that, one day I stood still, thought about my past, about those little things that made me happy back in the days, and I thought… Why not?
Ok, moviemaking makes you happy. Why did you retire then? Is it because this whole job was becoming to look more and more like a routine? Or because you felt that you had already done your part?
Yes, moviemaking can make you happy, and it worked for me, but also the audience matters, they can make you happy and faithful nor sad and hateful. I never thought that I’ve done my part, there’s a big and complex universe of small/big things that you can do in a movie. Regarding to your question, the answer is the audience and all those haters, but now I realize that it doesn’t matter so much, it only matters to be satisfied of your personal work and satisfy the respectful audience and the ones who enjoy what you do.
So you risked it all just because of public voices? Maybe it’s a bit of an exaggerated statement, but the fact that you left had a tremendous impact upon your video editor career. At least that’s how I feel. You were and still are a great oldschool filmmaker. Do you feel like you could have done many great things during the years you were inactive? If that’s true, I guess that now you are disappointed with choice you made.
Of course, there are always regrets, but I’m not mad about it neither, while I was inactive on the moviemaking scene, I’ve managed to realize other stuff IRL. Further said, I’m good where I am now, I feel like I still have a few words to say. My actual/future projects will speak from their selves. Thanks for your thumbs up xD.
It seems that you didn’t just come back for the sake of coming back. As I can see, you have got big plans too. Are there any mind blowing movies that lie ahead? Tell us everything!
Hehe, mind blowing? Not, maybe screen blowing xD. Now seriously, of course I came back with a plan, from now on I’m looking for more co-operations with big gaming communities, but I won’t say no to player/frag movies as well. Actually, now I’m working at a project called ‘Royalty’, it features pro players from all over the world. ‘H2k @ WCG preQuals 2010′ could be on my agenda as well for now, so you’ll definitely see more projects from me in the near future.
Does your current project, Royalty, have something to do with the latest ESWC moviemaking contest? If so, did this contest have anything to do with you coming back, to any extent? We are talking about real money here. $5,000 is not something we can see everyday in the moviemaking scene.
Yes, ‘Royalty’ will participate at the contest, but it was not the reason I came back, actually the contest was announced yesterday or two days ago, and I decided to come back about a week ago. About the contest, yes there are a lot of money in stake and I’m more than glad to be part of it, looking forward to see what’s going to happen and the other competitor’s work.
I guess there is no point in asking if you feel confident about your strengths. Taking into consideration that other great players have announced their presence at the contest, such as the creator of Single Gaming series
MiX(eP), do you feel like you will win the big prize? It seems that the audience really likes what he can do with his 3D skills.
Well, MiX(eP) is a great moviemaker, at least cinematically spoken, he has wonderful 3D skills, but that depends, an esport movie is not only about the effects that you hand to the viewer, you need many many things for a perfect movie. I guess it all comes to the jury and the viewers, how they see the movie and also how they feel the movie. In my opinion, feeling is the most important thing that a movie should have, the way that the viewer intercepts the movie. I also have CG skills, but I never used them in a esport movie before, because I’m more into oldschool style, the style that gives you competitional feeling and makes you want to play after you finished watching the movie. I guess I’m confident in my skills and I’m hoping for a good performance at the contest.
So you are counting on a movie which mixes oldschool style with some modern elements. Do you think this will make the difference and destroy any other opponent, no matter what he/she comes to the table with?
Actually I don’t believe that, I’m just doing my style, doing what I like and what I know the audience and fans like, and if this can get me $5,000, then so be it.
And what will you do with those $5,000 if they will be in your wallet ? Have you thought about that ?
Well, it’s too soon to think at that, I have faith in me, but until I finish the project I can’t assume nothing. If I win, I’ll probably invest them in something, or pay the rent for a few months, hehe ;[.
Let us hope that you will win. If the filmmaker is happy so is Airwalk. Everyone wins.
By the way, I have something on my mind that I forgot to ask. Can you give us a time frame for this comeback? I’m talking about how long you’re planning on staying. Or maybe you haven’t got that far with plans for the future yet.
Thanks for the support.
I’m whiling to play my role for a long time if things go smoothly, if everything in my life is good, than everything in my moviemaking life is also good, so I’ll say for an unlimited period. We never know what the future holds for us.
Because everything has an end, so does this interview. The time for your shout-outs is here. Thank you for accepting to be interviewed and I wish you all the best at the contest and at all the upcoming events in your life, no matter what kind of events they are.
Thank you mate, all the best to you and Airwalk as well.
I would like to add something, I apologize to the audience for canceling the project ‘MaFy: Starsroad‘ and ‘#pro.ro‘, I had a hard time back then IRL. Also,
juggaknot, I’m sorry. And a lot of respect for my dear friend and boss,
KrieppeN.
A special message for my gf, thank you for your support and understanding, I love you to death
SilviaB. I also thank my best friend
TAVy, for being crazy as hell.
